The first part of the meeting focussed on gaining insights from VDL, covering their approach to innovation as well as their work in corporate-startup collaborations. Hans Priem, Business Manager at VDL ETG, then discussed the partnership FSO Instruments between VDL, TNO, and Demcon on laser satellite communication, elaborating on the challenges and successes they have encountered in this collaboration.

As we approach the end of a dynamic year and look toward 2025, understanding the implications of Corporate Venturing is more crucial than ever. We arranged two keynote speakers to facilitate this: Gert Jan Vaessen (Fund Manager of Deep Tech Fund at InvestNL) and Felix Zwart (Director of Research and Policy at NVP), who reflected on 2024 and provided outlooks for 2025.

We also discussed CVN's plans for 2025, including our strategic focus areas and key initiatives for the coming year.

Following this discussion, there was a guided tour of the VDL factory. We ended the afternoon with a networking reception.
